Teach with Us!

KoKo NYC is the arts education program of Open Source Gallery. KoKo NYC serves thousands of children every year through programs in local schools, public libraries, and at community events throughout New York City.
KoKo NYC has rolling recruitment for Teaching Artists.
KoKo NYC workshop options are ever expanding, but the core of every workshop remains the same — to empower kids to see potential all around them, to see their own ideas to fruition, to feel a sense of ownership in their creative process, and to make connections between art and science. Using repurposed materials as the foundation of KoKo NYC’s building supplies engenders environmental awareness as well as a spirit of innovation. Kids learn to make art from their environment and to see “trash” as an opportunity to create something new. Many workshops utilize open source technology and/or simple electronics to teach kids about circuitry, programming, and other scientific concepts.
